Mari Dorenstreich started in July 2004 as an Independent Living Specialist and now serves as TCIL’s Independent Living Specialist & Program Coordinator, Overseeing 2 ILS in both Eureka and Del Norte offices, and a Transition Coordinator in Eureka. Mari’s expertise is in Social Security Advocacy, Calfresh, and other social service programs.
Mari works with clients from Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity Counties.
Mari takes great pride in her dedication to clients and recently celebrated her 20th anniversary with TCIL. In Mari’s free time, she serves as a Soldier at the Salvation Army. Her formal education was as a Spanish Instructor for students who needed Spanish/English instruction.
Mari also has a certification in Substance Use Disorder from California University, Berkley. Mari was recognized in 2019 by the Northcoast Committee on Employment for People with Disabilities.
Mari served on the Americans with Disabilities Act task force in San Fransico, California responsible for improvement in the accessibility of residential programs for people with disabilities.
I needed to come to terms with my own disability first before I could help someone else with theirs.
