Tri- County Independent Living (TCIL) is pleased to announce the 2019 winners of its Artists with Disabilities Holiday Card Cover Design Competition facilitated by Trajectory and The Studio. Trajectory is a career development program for visual, literary and performing artists who have disabilities in Humboldt County and a program of The Ink People Center for the Arts. The Studio is a project of HCAR and is an arts venue for supporting and showcasing art by people with disabilities.
First Place was awarded to Chris Johnson. Chris had his first solo exhibition in 2017 at the Cheri Blacker by Gallery entitled “The Hidden Treasures of California”. Mr. Johnson uses the media forms of drawing, acrylic, oil, watercolor painting, stained glass, mosaic, fiber arts, and ceramic sculpture for his artistic expression.
Second Place was awarded to Kathryn Olsen. Both artists were honored and presented their prizes and awards on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at TCIL’s office at 139 5th Street, Eureka.
Tri- County Independent Living will use the winning design as the featured cover of its 2019 holiday greeting card. Tri- County Independent Living is a non-profit agency providing services to persons with disabilities that increases their independence and also advocates for full access to people with disabilities and full participation in the community.
